sonic highways, NY

dear daisy,

time like these, foo fighters.

the glimpse of new york that i had were mostly from movies and songs. like hey, delilah.. what's it like in new york city, i'm thousand miles away but tonight girl you looks so pretty, yes you do. times square can't shine as bright as you.

i remember that in my first backpacking trip to the states some 13 years ago i only had a discplayer (which i bought from radioshack for 19 dollar) and two cds from blink182 (take of your pants and t shirt) and linkinpark (hybrid theory). fast forward now, i don't even have a single song in my phone. funny how i always thought that my life never moved on, but when i looked back - a lot had actually changed.

these past few weeks, i had been watching foo fighters' sonic highways documentary in my spare time - of dave's creative movement and music inspiration to record songs at different studios and cities of what makes american music - great and special.

one of my favorite episodes is new york, where the band recorded the song, river in a small studio at lower east manhattan called the magic shop, in which dave mentioned to be more than just wires, tubes and knobs but representing a big part history of the city.

walking around the neighborhood was like reminisce the epitome of musical evolution, from david bowie, the ramones, coldplay and norah jones - all played and recorded their masterpieces here, at the so called the magic shop.

that rainy sunday, i walked from brooklyn bridge to soho and around tribeca

financial district - which i reckon from the scene in die hard: with a vengeance.

fire station perhaps, but the cars are blocking the road like nobody cares.
rescue - mission and plan, the shelter near the chinatown at la fayette street / canal street

i regard my trip as a subculture of fandom into music and camaraderie of expressions - love, hate, anger, passion and everything in between.
